The water

The vision is to develop Nordhavnen BY the water on the basis of new approaches so that residents and other users will receive maximum benefit from the opportunities off ered by the proximity of the water. Three objectives have been defined: Housing and outward-oriented activities along the waterfront and all the urban coastal areas accessible to the public. All residents will have the water just outside their doors and will use it as a gathering point everyday Nordhaven project chalenge the new standard of 100% recycing water, using all the roof and some “urban umbrella” to caracterize the public urban spaces Moving more than 80% of trasportations on the water and using the new net of channels like a primary way to move gods and people

The green

We says that the green is the hart of the project, because in the project we don’t put parks or green area, but ALL the area is a big green space. The main street and all the public transportatons way are a green corridor that put trees and green inside buildings and generate a luxuriant, secure and accessible spaces in which are included facilities for play, movement and physical exercise. All the green is not only a superfical carpet, but the project want to have 50% of deep green (trees with solid roots) In this big autonomous green system will be collocate some special green area, with infrastructure to do sports, special activities and have some wild natural experience

Transportation

Nordhavnen project is a opportunity to develop new approaches to transport solutions which should provide an optimal framework for the use of the most sustainable modes of transport. The vision is to have sustainable, efficient transport solutions that cater optimally to the needs of cyclists and pedestrians and use the water to move gods and all the hard thinks. The new city district will be a place where people want to walk around on foot. There are a network of walkways leading to important traffic points, and public transport hubs that permit to walk or cycle in a very free way inside all the area without separate streets. Traffic is well balanced: 65% of all traffic in the area should be cyclists, 25% should be public transport by boats, trams and metro. And only 10% by cars. Cars works only in the main street (the riff valley) and it will arrive near the house only in special case (emergency or residence certificated reasons) So we can say that Nordhaven will be a city without cars!

The riff valey

The interior nature trail Bikecycles and water transportation will be the favorite way to move inside the project. In Nordhaven people move by food or by bike and public transport will be used only over long distances. Infact all the distances between people’s homes, public institutions and shopping facilities should be so short that it would be obvious to walk or cycle. for pedestrians that connect the area’s facilities, shops, squares, parks, water activities and recreational and cultural facilities, thus ensuring cohesion between districts. Development of urban districts on the basis of the needs of pedestrians and cyclists Bicycle routes will connect all important areas, and the Metro will ensure adequate and effi cient public transport between Nordhavnen and the rest of Copenhagen. It will be easy to get to Nordhavnen, which will be connected with the world-famous network of green bicycle routes in Copenhagen.

Centralità

School All the Nordhaven neighborhood works with the idea that culture and istruction are the real engine of economic. Sport and culture is one of the key point togenerate urban life, recreational activities and local identity. Nordhavnen will have local cultural activities, facilities that attract people from the rest of Copenhagen and cultural activities of international standing. Schools, day-care facilities and istitutional building are sprowled in the area but linked with green connection eachother and with the centrality. So schools are meeting points for the district’s residents, in connection with other public and private services and activities. Nordhaven will have a wide variety of public institutions, shopping facilities and experiences to be atractive for knowledge workers and students

Spazi Nordhavnen will be a place where everyone living in Copenhagen – not only the residents of the district – feels welcome. The project for Nordhavnen is be based on a democratic process and so we want that all the areas will be open to the people. All the garden and green area have not walls or barriers like the house or the workspaces. The idea is that you could walk or bike where you prefere oriented by the big urban umbrella and do what you want of the ground level of all the area in which a number of small and large lively and informal urban spaces have been created.

Residences Our slogan is diversity is good, and this should in particular be evident from a mix of residents: families, single people, young and elderly people and people from all income groups. In the residencial buildings there are a broad spectrum of workplaces and housing of diff erent sizes, rents, prices, ownership types. Nordhavnen need to prove that attractive urban development is possible on the waterfront at prices that are not only aff ordable to very wealthy people and large enterprises. The buildings in Nordhavnen are a motley mix of large, freestanding volumes, small buildings and storage sheds, and small dense clusters of buildings.

Typologies

Facilities commerce and retails The development of Nordhavnen is focus on urban life, urban spaces, water spaces, recreational areas, city beaches, culture and sports facilities and possibilities of movement. The district want to be a form an optimum framework for an active, diverse urban life that provides a multitude of experiences. Nordhaven will be the center for new workplaces, new public institutions, shopping facilities and experiences. Public istitutions are used to generate new centrality and create meeting points for the district’s residents, Shoping service and worksplace are distribuite in all the area to open all the spaces to the life. The biger commerce and retails spaces are placed near the riff valley and the hub to semplify the connection to the street and the water, but who live and works in Nordhaven will buy enythings near the house and could do it walking or biking in a very relax way.
